Smartphone Application

-
This year has seen a surge in consumers adopting mobile devices as information resources and are now at the stage where they can rival desktop for speed. The increase in demand for mobile content on the move is even more prevalent in London providing another great opportunity for the London Evening Standard to reach commuters.

All other UK newspapers have created apps that have been iPhone centric however the London Evening Standard are proud to be the first to create a mobile app compatible with all Smartphone handsets.

Content

The Smartphone application has been specifically designed to offer our readers an additional platform to access up to the minute breaking news. The bespoke design offers a rewarding user experience to view content which is updated 24/7 on:

  • News
  • Business
  • Sport
  • Showbiz
  • Life & style

The Smartphone application is reliable and constantly updated, drawing content so the next page is already cued up. We are currently working on phase 2 of the process which offers:

  • Splash on title page when app is opened
  • Offline mode that enables use in poor or no reception areas, even on the underground
  • The ability for users to add comments after features
  • Bespoke channels to support commercial messaging

The Opportunity

The app is due to launch in May 2010 and we are guaranteeing a minimum of 60,000 downloads (estimated base for the first 2 months).

We are expecting 2-4 million monthly impressions, reaching 78% ABC1's with an average age of 38.

Applications will be available to download from iTunes, RIM, Android, Nokia Ovi and Windows Mobile Marketplace.

We are offering advertisers the chance to be part of this exciting new platform. To discuss these opportunities please contact Tim Smith on 020 7938 7722.
