Investment in the Brand

A huge investment has been made into the Evening Standard’s presence on London’s streets, which has made a massive difference to the newspapers extensive on street distribution network.

There are now over 300 new and reconditioned vendor and travel satellite units on the streets and stations of London re-enforcing the Evening Standard’s position as London’s quality newspaper.

The point of sale operation has seen significant changes in the presentation of the vendors themselves, with every vendor wearing a branded uniform, reflecting the professional, smart and quality feel of the newspaper itself.

Selected locations across the capital are now home to vending units that include 32 inch daylight visibility screens that allow instantaneous on street messages to be displayed.

The 32 inch screens are networked on an individual screen by screen basis allowing messages to be tailored by locality, promotion/reader offer, headline and potentially advertiser.

Future developments will see second generation units that have the ability to allow messages on screens to be exposed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, engaging Londoners well beyond the traditional ‘on sale’ times.

All this activity has increased the Evening Standard’s visibility in Central London with the aim of increasing sales of the newspaper to an upmarket, working audience.
