London's main airport is set for major expansion, with ministers backing a controversial third runway and sixth terminal. Airport operator BAA, British Airways and most leading voices in the City believe expansion is essential for London's international position. But many in west London say their lives are already blighted by airline noise and pollution. So does the capital really need a bigger main airport - and can we expand it without unacceptable noise and environmental damage? Our panel debated the future of Heathrow - and its impact on all of us.
Panel:
The Rt Hon Ruth Kelly MP : Secretary of State for Transport
Baroness Valentine : Chief Executive Officer, London First
George Monbiot : Journalist and environmental campaigner
TBC - Theresa Villiers MP: Shadow Secretary of State for Transport
