How Can London Stay Ahead As The Great World City? - 25th February '08

ken
The debate was held at the RSA, 8 John Adam Street, London, WC2N 6EZ.

In the past few years London's economic and cultural renaissance has helped it lay claim to the title of the world's number one city. Now in the run up to the mayoral contest, we asked what the capital needs to stay ahead in the competitive race with other world cities.

Our panel featured Ken Livingstone, the Labour candidate seeking a third term as mayor. The debate discussed how London can prosper in a globalised era and what it still needs to do to enhance its appeal for those who live and work here.

Debating this motion were: Ken Livingstone Mayor of London, Diane Abbott Labour MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington, Lionel Barber Editor of The Financial Times, Nick Ferrari LBC Radio Broadcaster. In the chair was Jonathan Freedland, columnist.
